MASTA Student Chapters

With the advent of a new school year, our Michigan’s ASTA student chapters are up and brimming with activity. Here are some highlights from around the state:

• Central Michigan University recently created a chapter and they are excited about future projects and activities.
• The chapter at Eastern Michigan University has had a surge in membership and activity. One of the chapter’s projects is to serve as a lab orchestra for string methods students.
• The student chapter at Michigan State University has many items on their agenda for the year. In addition to various service projects in the surrounding community, the MSU chapter will assist in the hosting of the Michigan ASTA Solo Competition and the MASTA Alternative Styles Festival.
• New University of Michigan string education professor and ASTA student chapter advisor, Michael Hopkins, is pushing to increase membership and activity in Ann Arbor.
