StringFEST ’09- Friday, October 16
a one-day intensive workshop on string techniques and orchestral performance
Register Now – space still available
There is still time to register for this workshop directed at a select group of high school string players, grades 10-12, who wish to continue their musical studies at the collegiate level, whether they intend to pursue music as a major or minor or as an elective.
Limited Enrollment
• 30 violinists, 12 violists, 10 cellists, 8 bassists and 6 harps
• Fee is $30 per student (includes dinner)
Students will attend a recital by EMU’s string artist-faculty, participate in instrument clinics, and learn about careers in music. Students will rehearse a standard orchestral work for strings and harp with the EMU Symphony Orchestra and perform it in concert with the orchestra that evening. Harpists will also participate in a harp ensemble.

2:00 p.m. – Individual instrument clinicsor ensembles
3:30 p.m. – String orchestra rehearsal
5:00 p.m. – Dinner (provided)
6:00 p.m. – Side-by-side rehearsal with EMU Symphony Orchestra
7:30 p.m. – Concert: EMU Symphony and workshop participants, featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7
Location
Eastern Michigan University - Alexander Music Building and Pease Auditorium.
Registration
Admission to EMU StringFEST ‘09 is by recommendation of the student’s orchestra
director or private teacher and acceptance by EMU applied faculty. No audition is required.
