MYA Poster Contest

High school artists may enter the Michigan Youth Arts Poster Contest 2010 to win the chance to have your work featured on the 2010 Arts in Motion 5k poster or the 2011 Festival poster! Download the entry form and guidelines and email your entry by August 15, 2010 .

The winning artists receive a $100 prize and ten copies of the final poster. The contest is open to any Michigan high school student (enrolled in grades 9-12 for the 2010-2011 school year). 2009 Troy Suzuki and Bass Workshop Announced

The Annual Troy Suzuki Workshop continues its wonderful tradition of annual educational excellence with the 30th annual edition on April 18, 2009. This full-day workshop includes instrument classes, orchestra sessions, and alternative styles classes. The Troy Bass Workshop continues to be an amazing gathering of bass players of all levels from throughout Michigan.  Bass players of all ages join together for classes, a mass bass ensemble, and recitals by wonderful bass players and teachers.

2010 National High School Honors Orchestra

The National High School Honors Orchrestra will be held February 16- February 20, 2010 in Santa Clara, California. Students in the eleventh and twelfth grades during the 2009/2010 school year may apply for stringed instruments. Percussion and wind students must be in ninth through twelfth grade during the 2009/2010 school year to apply.

Students interested in applying can find the application and required repertoire. Submission requirements must be turned in to the Michigan chairman, Kelly DeRose, by May 15, 2009.

Outreach Information Updated

The information and application for our Outreach Program has been updated. Our Program and Professional Development Grants are available to assist MASTA members finance projects that promote string playing and teaching in Michigan.

Bartlett Memorial Golf Scramble reminder

Please get your registrations to me soon for the Jerry Bartlett Golf Outing so that I can make the final arrangements with Dunham Hills Golf Course. Applications should be submitted by around July 17.

Feel free to invite booster members, teaching colleagues, and administrators as well. It may be a good PR event for your program. Marshall Music has provided a few prizes from their manufacturers and we are expecting a nice prize from Ping as well.
