8th Annual Michigan Music Conference
January 19-21, 2012
DeVos Place and Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids, Michigan
The purpose of the Michigan Music Conference is to provide an annual in-service opportunity for the professional development of Michigan music educators and to serve as a coordinating body for collaborative, inter-association initiatives in support of school music in Michigan.
An additional and unique component of the Michigan Music Conference is the Technology Pre-Conference event - a premier showcasing of new technology being used in music curriculums. It provides a hands-on opportunity to educators who want to incorporate the latest technology into their lesson plans.
The membership of the MMC is comprised of the boards of directors of the:
Michigan Chapter, American String Teachers Association
Michigan Music Educators Association
Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association
Michigan School Vocal Music Association

Opportunities to Perform
- There are three different opportunities available to perform at the 2010 Conference. Each year, an average of 25 middle school and high school vocal and instrumental groups are chosen as "featured performances" at the conference. The process is a blind audition, conducted through MSBOA and MSVMA. In addition, two groups are chosen to perform in the evening on Thursday and Friday during the conference. These performers are college, university, or community ensembles.
- The deadline to apply to perform at the MMC will be on or about May 15 of each year
Conference Call for Proposals
- The deadline to submit proposals for the MMC will be on or about April 1 of each year
